Coronavirus on surfaces of patient rooms

Issue
A new study has tried to understand how Coronavirus persists on the wall
surfaces of hospitals.

Details
 The researchers collected samples from surfaces of room before, during
and after occupation to ascertain the amount of virus present.
 In addition, they collected samples from nose, throat, skin and stool of
patients and also their healthcare workers.

Observations
 The genetic signatures of the virus were found on the floor beside the
bed occupied by a patient of Covid-19 as well as surfaces and floor outside
the room.
 The amount of virus detected was highest during the first five days after
the symptoms arise in a covid-19 patient.
 None of the healthcare workers serving the patient were found infected
with the virus. It strengthens the fact that transmission through infected
surfaces was very rare.
