Airway pressure

! Upper Pressure Limit

! “AIRWAY PRESSURE TOO HIGH”
! When airway pressure is 15 cmH2O above set PEEP level for more
than 15 seconds
! “HIGH CONTINUOUS PRESSURE”
! In PRVC/VS mode when the internal pressure level reaches 5 cmH2O
below set Upper Pressure Limit an alarm is generated
! “PRESSURE LIMITED”
! If airway pressure should rise more than 5 cmH2O above set Upper
Pressure Limit
! Safety valve shall open
O2 concentration

! Preset alarm limits

±6 vol% (digital)
±10 vol% (analog)

! Default setting (min)

18 vol% (digital)
16 vol% (analog)

Alarm memory delayed 45 seconds

When Fuel Cell is disconnected Alarms & Messages display shows:

“O2 SENSOR”

During Oxygen Breath the audible alarm is muted

Apnea

! Apnea delay time

! Adult 20 s
! Pediatric 15 s
! Neonatal 10 s
Gas supply

! Pressure range
2 (-5%) – 6.5 (5%) bar

! Gas failure of one gas

! Remaining gas takes over

! Both gases fail

! Safety valve is activated
Battery

! Fully charged
Approx.24 V
! Alarms - below
+23 V “LIMITED BATTERY CAPACITY LEFT”
+21 V “NO BATTERY CAPACITY LEFT”
+19.5 V “POWER FAILURE ALARM”

! Charging time of empty battery approximately 6 hours

Expiratory Minute volume

Default settings

ADULT 0.3 l/min (digital)

0.2 l/min (analog)

PEDIATRIC 0.3 l/min (digital)

0.2 l/min (analog)

NEONATAL 0.06 l/min (digital)

0.05 l/min (analog)

Analog alarm system is activated when set alarm limits are passed by 10 %

Pressure Controlled ventilation (PC)
Inspiratory rise time with Pressure regulation
Volume Controlled ventilation (VC)
Insp. rise time with Flow regulation
Volume control

Patient initiated flow increase during inspiration

! Patient can increase the insp. flow when he generates

an insp. pressure of 2 cmH2O below set PEEP level

! The insp. time is terminated when the flow drops

below the preset or to 5% of its peak value

! If the preset insp. tidal volume has not been achieved

the ventilator delivers the remaining tidal volume
Pressure Regulated Volume Control
Pressure level regulation – Principle
Volume support

Inspiratory pressure is kept constant

The inspiratory flow is decelerating

In case of apnea there is an automatic back-up with PRVC
