LIVING WITH CHRONIC LYME DISEASE

Systemic Dentist ~ March 21, 2019

As a biomimetic dentist many come to the office suffering from illness that often has not been explained or regulated
through traditional medicine. It’s a matter of digging further into the root cause of the structure of the teeth that we
find hidden issues that need to be addressed.

We had a patient come to us that was severely ill with chronic Lyme disease that impacted her nervous system to
such a degree that she had nearly constant full body tremors, daily convulsions, and occasional paralysis. She was
housebound and occasionally bed bound. On rare trips to her doctor's appointments she would be confined to a
wheelchair. She lived bound by this disease that was stealing the joy out of her life.

Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of
infected blacklegged ticks. Typical s ymptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called
erythema migrans. If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system.

Within the first part of the year she underwent 4 surgeries. Not long after her last surgery did she begin to see
improvement. We continued with quarterly cleanings, replaced fillings and started her occlusal guard adjustments to
address TMJ concerns. Despite the distance she had to travel to see us in the office she continued to make the trip
knowing her well being was an investment she was adamant in maintaining.

When she returned in the fall that same year she walked into our office for the first time without a wheelchair.
Imagine the wonderful surprise to see our patient walking for the first time. In the new year when she came in for
her regular check up she informed us that she was pregnant and expecting.

It is results like this, patient experience, that are short of miraculous.

Watching lives being transformed and renewed through conscious and systemic dentistry is the gratification we
enjoy when our patients are seeing the results they are looking for when they come to see us at Systemic Dentist.

Systemic Dentistry is the combination of looking at the mouth-body connection and giving special attention to
nutrition, toxic fillings, and hidden jaw infections and root canals. It is a combination of biological dentistry with
holistic protocols and environmental approaches - what we consider to be the only form of conscious dentistry.
