Humans
Humans in the world of Saga are a rare sight. Decreasing in numbers consistently
since long ago, humans are now a species under risk of extinction. Wherever they
go they are treated with surprise, wonder and caution. Many are treated poorly and
judged promptly, for times before they have showed to be the source of many
problems and complications.

Their downfall is attributed to many reasons; aggressive cross-breeding, war,

genocide and some even say magical maladies. Whatever is the case, humans
presently deal with the conundrum of their dwindling numbers and if there is
going to ever be a way to regain the influence of ancient times.

Attacked in Every Front

Below are listed some of the “evolutions” humans had to suffer throughout the
centuries.

The Half-Elves
Humans and Elves are generally not on friendly terms;
elves see humans as greedy and troubled, while humans
see elves as a source of infection. In the ever receding
human culture, there is an event called the “Elven Pox,” in
which a human gives birth to half-breeds whom have the
blood of the elves. While the elves are asexual and
reproduce as so, there’s one known reason for half-elves
to be born: The Wyches.

The Wyches are the dark elves’ military and scientific

body. They are known to openly attack and conduct raids
to abduct the peoples of other societies in order to use
them to attain phantom-hood. The Wyches are also
ostensibly recognized by their use of “Wych Specters;”
dark elves who have achieved ghostly form and employ themselves as cunning
spectral warriors.
There’s a chance that when a human is possessed by a Wych Specter or any Wekufe
ghost they will be infected by the “Elven Pox,” making the human’s next off spring
to be born a half-elf.

These half-elves retain many of their human parents’ traits, but the pointed ears
and lithe complexion makes their change evident; added to that, many half-elves’
skin gets as close as it can to the color of their elven “parents,” as such, many half-
elves have a gray coloration in their skin, all the way to a soft black.

The Synth (Warforged)

The discovery of sapphireum and pep-gel launched the
world of Saga into a spree of technological advancement.
It changed entire cultures and transformed the usual day
to day of everyone. This is most true for the self-
proclaimed “Synth,” humans who embraced the evolution
of technology and artificial augmentation to the point
everyone acknowledges them as another race entirely.
The Synth have their own nation in the “Technocratic
Republic of Viszla,” where the wonder, or decadence, of
their iron and copper lives shines to everyone.

While the Synth clearly begin their lives as human, they

are early augmented with robotic enhancements. These
modified humans transform most if not all of their bodies
to become “superior.” Flesh is replaced by iron, bones by
rigging and veins by cabling. Skin is quickly enhanced by
replacing it with synthetic ones and eyes are rid of their
normal maladies.

Many look at the Synth and see only a disgusting extreme; a merriment for
technology that should not be. The Synth are past these considerations, however.
They seek to reach perfection by intellect, and eternity by metal. In reality, their
bodies are transfigured with imperfect machinery and even rudimentary bits most
times, which requires periodic maintenance.
Some of the Synth completely welcome the robotic lifestyle and replace almost the
entirety of their bodies with augmentations, to the point that their human traits
stop existing.

The Oni (Tiefling)

The Pozela Isles, a long chain of islands, were forever
Infernal Mutations
transformed into a hellish landscape long ago by the
means of an “infernal incursion,” as says myth and legend. Oni display several traits

thrill is what they live for, yet not to the point of being openly hostile. Quite the
contrary, Oni tend to be very extroverted and sociable.

Oni history is still a point of contention, for there are a handful of other, smaller
Oni societies around other places of the world, allowing many of the craziest
historians to believe there were multiple of these “infernal incursions.”

The Half-Orcs
The battle against orcs has been documented time and time again in almost all
sources of knowledge. Since before the Rapture, the raiding orc tribes plagued all
civilized societies, and battle would promptly be joined. None suffered most than
the humans, whom had bloody wars with them. Both sides suffered from many,
many casualties, but in the end, the humans would prevail.
However, the battle between the two sprung
half-orcs into the world. Historians attribute
the existence of half-orcs to rape, from both
sides. But regardless of the case, the amount
of half-orcs quickly grew inside of both
human and orcish populations and continued
to do so over centuries until half-orcs became
even more numerous than their orcish and
human parents.

Today, half-orcs are common in the world of

Saga. They have a number of small countries
and an assortment of different cultures have
been born out of these territories. The growth
of half-orcs has inevitably dwindled human
population as well. Some human societies,
such as Clarinholm, openly advice against
forming a family with that of a half-orc or
other species.

Other half-breeds
Humans have to deal with the many sides from which they have been fragmented
and driven close to extinction. There are other half-breeds around the world whom
have increased in numbers in spite of humans. Each half-breed species represents
a danger to the existing human population, and they fear there is nothing to do
about it.

If you got an idea for a half-breed, run it over and we’ll see how it fits. Harpies, for
example, could feasible exist as a half-breed race.
