In the previous fragment of ‘The Wanderer’, we can see a clear example of repetition. This
has been done to emphasize the characteristics that a wise man would have. This also
helps the readers to anticipate what is coming next.
We can also see the use of synecdoche to express the exile to the wise old person, due to
the fact that both of them went through many winters while living.
The use of comparison is clear, as the author contrasts the loneliness of the world to an
abandoned building.
