By Valerie Marsh
SCENE 1:
In the earliest of times all was so grey it was so horrible it was so awful,
(Mother) “Jeanne! Where are you? Please help me, I can’t find my daughter. Please help me.”
(Jeanne) “Mother! Mother! Please find me! I’m lost! Mother,”
(boy) “Now, where could my cap be? Wait, nope, never mind this is not it.”
(girl)” Where do I go? this way, or this way? No wait this way, no wait this way! no this way!”
(woman)” This goes here I think? Oh, wait no, it goes here, no it goes here, no here *sighs* what’s the
point? How can I work easily when it’s hard to see?”
People really did have a hard time.
SCENE 2:
Then life changed for them when a child was born, they believed that the child was born to make life
easier, because it holds a ball of light in its hands people where excited to see him.
(girl) “Come mother! Let us visit the child!”
(boy) “Come my friend, let us go to the child! Come!”
(girl 1) “Sister! Have you heard? A child is born with a ball of light in its hands, I cannot wait to see him!”
(girl 1) “Yes, sister I have heard. I too cannot wait to see him!”
(Boy 2)” It’s the child, its ball of light looks magnificent.”
Truly everyone was happy. It was a miracle as they would call it.
SCENE 3:
The baby grew into a strong boy the same with his ball of light it was now the size of a grapefruit. he
holds it much longer than before.
(farmer) “Excuse me, young boy can you please hold your light up for me? Thank you very much!”
(woman) “Good morning, to you. would you mind helping me see the path?”
(the little boy with light) “oh no not at all! Here let me help you,”
(woman) “oh thank you! Kind boy, thank you!”
(the little boy with light) “your welcome, madam glad to help.”
The little boy was of good help especially to the people around him. Thy called him Sunman.
SCENE 4:
The boy grew into a strong young man and his ball of light was now the size of a watermelon! But like an
ordinary human Sunman gets tired so he would put his arms down
(the people) “Sunman, Sunman, give us your light! Sunman, Sunman, chase away the night!”
The people would chant. So, Sunman would put them back up again.
(boy1) “Sunman gets pretty tired at times that’s why we shall never give up chanting!”
(boy 2) “You are right my brother, don’t you all agree?”
(girl 1) “I too agree, but don’t you think he should rest too? Sunman is just like us, he too gets tired.”
(girl 2) “she’s right, I think its better if we let him rest at some time.”
SCENE 5:
As time passed Sunman grew old he was weaker than ever, he had enough of being the light of their
place so he decided to go into a cave and sleep there. The people heard about this and went to the cave.
when they reached the mouth of the cave they chanted;
(the people) “Sunman, Sunman give us your light! Sunman, Sunman chase away the night!”
The people called out to their loudest voices but still, Sunman refused to come out. So they decided to
give their children an order.
(the parents) “carefully pull him out of the cave and throw him into the sky.”
(the children) “that we will, mother and father.”
The children did get him out and he beg them to let him go he beg them to stop but still the children did
not stop, then they threw him into the sky.
(Jeanne) “mother it looks so beautiful! How magnificent it looks like when big!”
(mother) “you are right my child, now we will not have problems seeing anymore because he now lights
the whole world.”
There he went from a humble man to a big giant sun. The people really did admire the sun it was big
and beautiful, and most importantly it helps us see well. And that is where the story ends of Sunman
