The Most Incredible Thing

Long, long ago, when magic was human’s best friend, there lived an elf called
Elfie. The thing about Elfie as that he helped only those humans who were
brave, at heart and had a spirit to do remarkable things. Elfie wandered from
town to town, looking for great humans and making great stories. In one such
town, there lived a handsome young man named Antonio. Antonio as a clock
maker, and a very close friend of Elfie. He was generous, intelligent and a
hardworking man.
One day, the king’s messenger came with a message. Attention everyone, the
princess has decided to marry. Whoever can do the most incredible thing shall
have the king’s daughter and half of his kingdom. Everyone who wishes to
exhibit their talent is invited to the palace tomorrow.
Elfie and Antonio, began discussing about the prospects of making the most
incredible thing. Why don’t you make an incredible clock? Making locks is not
incredible. But, making an incredible clock would indeed be incredible. I don’t
think I can, Elfie. You will never know if you don’t try.
That day, when Antonio had finished all his work, he saw his toolbox and
imagined if he could do any incredible clock? He took out a paper and drew a
rough drawing of the clock he imagined. And then, his mind was suddenly filled
with amazing things he could make the clock do. He worked for hours. He was
so excited that he didn’t eat or sleep the whole night.
The next day, as decided, the whole city crowded in the palace to exhibit their
talents.
There were sword fights who fought with themselves more than anyone else.
Ah, isn’t it incredible, how I hurt myself? Eh, of course! Next!!
Oh I can sleep for months together. Oh, is he asleep already? Father, do we
have to ait for months to wake him up? Take him away please. There were
jugglers who got bored of juggling with apples and pears, that they began to
juggle with tables, chairs and even courtiers. “Next!!”, shouted the king.
Then entered Antonio. I am a clock-maker your highness and I would like to
show you my work, The contestants present in the palace were sure he would
lose because after all, he was a mere clock-maker. Antonio took off the cloth
and unveiled the strange-looking clock. That is the ugliest clock I have ever
seen. Forgive me, your highness, but talent and intelligent can achieve things
that beauty can never do. You mean this clock is intelligent? All Antonio did as
to touch the centre of the clock and it began to roll.

As everybody looked in ae, the clock struck one and a man made of wood
came out. Rule no 1 to lead a happy life is to have courage. Believe who you
are and your life will be complete. The wooden man returned.
The clock struck 2. Out came two ballerinas who danced so gracefully that
everyone applauded.
The clock struck 3 and out came the sun and the moon. Along with them, also
came Sirius, the brightest star in the night Sky.
Four, Four, Make the clock strike four, said the king…
When it did strike 4, out came a puzzle. Out came a tulip, a grasshopper, an
empty nest and a basket of fresh fruits. The princess said “I know what these
are. These are the four seasons. The tulip grows in spring. And as we all know,
the grasshopper comes out in summer, the empty nest is winter because the
birds have already flown away, and the basket of fruits is autumn because it
signifies our harvest season. As the puzzle was solved, the objects went in.
The clock went on and struck five. Another puzzle, consisting of a spectacle, a
gong, a bowl of fresh herbs, a plate of steaming food and a small puppy. The
king said, “These must be the five senses, Spectacle to see, the gong to hear,
the smell of fresh herbs, taste the yummy food and touch the cute, little
puppy.
When the clock struck six, out came a dice that rolled six all the time. A
minister jumped forward and said, “That is not a broken dice. The six shows
the time on the clock.”
As the clock struck seven, seven small children appeared and sang a song while
going round and round in a circle. The princess shrieked and said, “These are
the seven days of the week.”
The most astonishing thing happened when the clock struck eight. The eight
planet came out and showed how beautiful our solar system is with the eight
planets revolving around the sun.
When the clock struck nine, nine tinker-bells came out and presented a dance.
The clock struck again and out came 10 council men who were so intelligent
that the courtiers feared for their jobs.
The clock struck 11 and out came two children. One child said let’s play a
game. Yes, two and two and seven. The crowd shouted the clock struck eleven.
Hen the clock struck 12, everyone waited patiently and an elderly woman
came out. Everyone was confused, but soon she began to sing 12 heavenly
songs in her beautiful voice. The songs were mesmerising that the flowers
began to bloom and the birds began to dance.
The king was about to announce the wedding date of Antonio with his
daughter when suddenly, a man came in shouting, “ No, and he broke the
incredible clock. He said that he had killed art and that was indeed the most
incredible thing.
The king was helpless and he said,” That is correct. But, the princess
screamed, “No, Father”. But, the king said, “I am sorry, daughter. But a
promise is a promise and everyone in the kingdom agrees that destroying the
beautiful piece of art was indeed the most incredible thing.”
Antonio, returned home dejected and sad and thought about how unlucky he
was.
But, next day, a marvellous thing happened on the day of the marriage. The
spirts of the broken clock came alive and went to the palace to teach the cruel
incredible destroyer a lesson.
They made him dance, turn and fly upside down until he begged for mercy and
said, “How wrong I was to think that I could destroy art?”
Soon, the crowd began to chant, “Bring Antonio back”.
Soon, Antonio and the princess were married and they lived happily ever after.
