I wish to work after in Dubai after my studies, United Arab Emirates. The main reason to work
in Dubai is there is no tax deduction on our salaries, and it is very near to my home country.
1. Power Distance
UAE has high Power Distance score of 90 which means in organization people believe in the
superior power. Country still follow hierarchical royal family rule and not the democratic model.
Centralization is popular in most organization and subordinates expects orders from their
superior to complete their tasks.
2. Uncertainty Avoidance
UAE scores 80 in terms for this factor. They are against unorthodox behaviors and ideas.
Usually, employees need rules in their organization so that they tend to practice those rigid
rules in any organization. Innovation is less in these places, but people are willing to work hard
and be busy in their day today activities.
3. Individualism vs collectivism
UAE has very less Individualism and it score around 25 to be considered as a collective society.
They have less press freedom, lower human rights especially for the maids or laborer’s who
work in that country. But the society has strong relationship and group members are treated
equally. People won’t commit any mistakes in workplace they feel they will lose their face if
they do so. Hiring and promotions are considered in terms of group members performance.
4. Masculinity vs Femineity
UAE is neither masculine nor Feminine with score around 50. Since the society shows both the
traits of competition, achievement, and success also it equally shows caring for others and a
quality for life. So, we can find both the traits in the society.
5. Long-term Orientation vs Short term Orientation
As of now there is no score available for UAE. But I feel that UAE has developed in a fast phase
manner after the discovery of oil in that region. They tend to follow the European standards to
deal its present scenarios. They focus on tourism and they help to start business with less
norms. Ancient age most of them were fisherman but now they have changed to business and
other areas of life.
6. Indulgence vs Restraint
There is no indulgence score available for UAE, but I feel now a days socialization is bit more
active than in the past. But still there are some restrictions since the Arab children are studying
in separate schools. So, there are some restrictions for socialization in this regard.

If I get a chance to work in that country, I will read more about the country and traditions. I
have read that there are job portals like dubizzile, naukrigulf, which can be used for finding
jobs. And I heard it is difficult to switch jobs in UAE so when choosing job must be done
carefully. Rent expenses in UAE is bit high so we should consider that factor when agreeing for
our salaries. And we should keep in mind that we send enough savings amount to our native
place since once after our work visa get expires in UAE we must go back to our native place. We
should not greet Arab women or their kids in public places since they are bit conservative about
their traditions. Also getting driving license in UAE is a tough process so I have to start preparing
for exams and understand the rules and regulations by reading online before my travel.
