GARLIC LEMON GRASS INSECT REPPELENT

ABSTRACT

The study aims to contribute cheap and easy homemade organic repellent in preventing mosquitos.

About 1 bundle of fresh lemon grass and 8 cloves of garlic were used. These are made of their extract.

Its effect is comparable with the commercials repellent and the garlic lemon grass mosquito repellent is
recommended because it is no harm in skin, cheaper and natural.

Lemon grass and garlic, is scientifically known as (Cymbopogon) and (Allium sativum) is commonly found
throughout the Philippines. Lemon Grass is a perennials grass in the family poaceae grown for its

fragrant leaves and stalks use for flavoring. Garlic is a plant with long, flat grass like leaves and a papery

The most common problem in the household and farmers are insects and mosquitoes that cause dengue

fever. Garlic makes a powerful natural insect repellant in any variety of crawling and flying insects

including mosquitoes. Lemongrass oil is an effective insect repellent against mosquitoes. Buying
insecticide is too costly nowadays. It is therefore the aim of this investigatory is to make a cheaper and
easy insect repellant.

Objectives:

1. To be able to produce an effective organic insect repellant to prevent insects.

2. To test the effectiveness of garlic lemon grass insect repellant.

1. That the extracts of lemon grass and garlic can be converted into insects repellant.

Review of Literature

Going back of the native way of repelling insects. Prices of insecticides are too costly nowadays. We need
to find out what are those plants that can be used to repel insects.

Herodotus, who noted that in ancient Egypt the oil of a particularly awful smelling castor-oil plant was
burnt in lamps, made the first recorded human use of an insect repellent.

About 1 bundle of lemon grass were gathered and cleaned and 8 cloves of garlic are chopped into small
