Abstract

The present study introduces a new hydraulic pump mechanism and compares its
characteristics to other existing pumps. Also, its applications and manufacturing process are
discussed.

In order to design a promising hydraulic pump, the mechanism should effectively convert the
mechanical energy, which is usually generated by rotary engines, into fluid energy. Fluid
energy consists of two terms: pressure and flow rate, which positive displacement pumps
have been developed to generate pressure in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Moreover,
hydraulic pumps are evaluated by the parameters such as high pressure generation, large
handling volumes, high efficiency, low inconsistencies at output flow, and low manufacturing
and maintenance costs.

In the present investigation, a numerical study was used to calculate the handling volume of
the new pump. MSC Visual Nastran was also employed to simulate the dynamics of the
mechanism. Furthermore, finite element method (FEM) and ANSYS were applied for
optimizing the mechanical components the pump.

At the end, a thorough assessment of the new pump behavior and abilities is proposed and
compared to other available pumps.
