Data Analysis and Results

The interviews have been studied carefully for transcribing the results which helped in making
code analysis. The analysis of contents has been used an analyzing tool. For the interviews-
research question no.1 and 2 are merely related to the kinds of problems and remedies problems
being faced by the students during reading comprehension. Thus, this section explores the
participants’ opinion and answering the questions that has been mentioned in the research
questions section.

Theme 1: Vocabulary Issue while Reading Sample Responses
Comprehension
Vocabulary plays very important role
while getting clear sensation about the
topic being read at any level. The students
face a lot of problems during reading
because of lack meaning about the words.

Most of the participants showed their lack
of tendency during reading
comprehension. For them, reading is

Participants had a very unclear meaning


about the passages being read. They were
not clear that what actually they are
reading. They apply traditional
approaches while reading comprehension.

The students had zero practice. They did
not possess interest for daily reading
exercises and its implementation.

Vocabulary Issue while Reading Comprehension


The lack of meaning of words was a very common issue among the participants. Due to this
problem student remain unable to read passage ahead. They stick over the few lines and break
the connection. They are even unable to pronounce the words very correctly. The study reveals
that the participants don’t practice words and their appropriate meanings daily. They take for
granted the words and their actual use. The students possess very little background in term of
vocabulary and reading skills. In fact, they are unaware about the basic words and their synonym
and antonym.
Lack of Reading Interest
The study reveals that most of the participants possess very lack of interest during reading
passages. For them, reading is boring skills, therefore they don’t show their interest in it. There
are certain reasons which make them bound having advance reading. Such as, they are not aware
about the strategies and implementation. They merely rely on traditional and useless methods.
Even, they don’t connect the ideas or visualizing the topic before starting the reading. Thus, due
to these barriers they feel like reading is a very boring skill but it is not so; they are unaware
about the worth of reading and its ultimate benefits at academic level.
Inappropriate Understanding about the Passages
The participants in this study possessed a very unclear ideas about the given passages. Most of
the students were taking confused meaning, they were not sure that what actually they were
reading. They students were sticking over the only some points and not were advancing ahead to
explore much more ideas. They were not conceptualizing in their meanings because of bias
understanding about the texts.
Lack of Reading Practices
The emerging problems in reading faced by the students were just because of unusual practices
on daily basis. Certain students described that they don’t read a paragraph in their daily routine.
They only practice reading during sessional tests, exams, presentation or assigned assignments
topics. The words not practiced daily. They are not habitual having effective reading, they only
cross the passages but not pay the careful attention to their reading skills. The students face a
number of issues just because of less practices and interest etc. which have ultimate effects on
their academic performances.
