Danielle Boodoo- Fortune

Who are they?

She is a trinidadian visual artist, Poet, Empath , Mama and magicmaker. She considers her art
a huge part of who she is as between her grandmothers (a blend of East Indian, Chinese, Carib
& African descent), she learnt the meaning of feminine strength and where true power lies
reflected in her art.

Where they live?

She lives in Sangre Grande with her husband but she grew up in rural trinidad and constantly
reflects on the memories made there.

Type of work they create?

She creates painting and considers herself a magicmaker but she is also a poet and writer.

Examples of work:

The sisters
Zaboca Goddess’
Criatura
In the Quiet
She considers this piece of art to be based on the story of Persephone and the cycle of
relationships “it’s a tale of a mother and daughter, sadness & loss, oneness and yet
separateness, the complexity and difficulty of relationships between the two. It comes
back to the same place of memories.” The branches or antlers denote sensitivity and
understanding: “it’s important not to let go of your innate wildness, a freeness, a
connection to your own needs & impulses.” The cursive, flowing shapes have a
seamless fluidity, connecting directly with the landscape and surroundings like roots.
