Art critique

Description- I Think that the artwork is a figure. In the picture you can see a building in the
complete foreground and clouds shadowing it overhead. The artist used a style of it being
abstract. A two dimensional medium of paint was used but there was no three dimensional
medium used.

Analysis- The elements of art used was lines in a variety of diagonal,

thick,straight,curved,vertical,thin. The shapes and forms used were rectangles, squares and
triangles in a form of being curved, angular and freeform. The colors used were very much so
strong and bright.There was a mix of light and dark values as well as the colours were warm
colours. The color scheme used was complementary as there was Red and Green as well as an
analogous colour scheme with the colours yellow, yellow orange, orange, red orange. The
texture of this is smooth and the shape is shallow and in some areas it may appear flat. The
focal point of the picture is in the centre as it is light and your eyes will be drawn to it first. There
Is a contrast of light and dark values surrounding the focal point. The lightest areas are in the
middle but the darkest areas are on both the left and right side. There is a harmony and unity
amongst the colours and values as well as the repetition and variety of shapes, light and dark
values, colours and lines. The balance within this art if symmetrical

Interpretation- Experiment with the interest of colour and shape to create a simple design. I
believe it to be an interpretation of formalist art

Evaluation- There is a brilliant use of colour, line and shape. An improvement could be to add
more details to give a more detailed and distinct appearance
Art critique
Description- The artwork is a cityscape. It has buildings. It has buildings in the picture and has a
style of non objective.The foreground there is a building which seems to be the largest and it
continues with middle ground and background which fades in buildings which are just a little
small in height. The medium used was paint. There is the use of colour:Red, Green, Pink,
Yellow - orange. The buildings are placed in a perspective of largest to smallest.

strong.There was a mix of light and dark values as well as the warm and cool colours. The color
scheme used was complementary as there was Red and Green as well as an triadic colour
scheme with the colours yellow, red and blue green.. The texture of this is smooth and the
shape is shallow with a limited array of light and dark values The focal point of the picture is the
yellow on the far right side as your eyes will be drawn to it first. There Is a contrast of light and
dark values surrounding the focal point. The lightest areas are on the left side and the darkest
areas are on the right side. There is a harmony and unity amongst the colours and values,
space and line as well as the repetition and variety of shapes, light and dark values, colours and
lines. The balance within this art if asymmetrical as each part id different

Evaluation- There is a brilliant use of harmony with color and values. Try to work on neatness
and cleaner line definition.
