Subdvision Leg Model page 1

A leg from a cylinder

This tutorial is a subset of the body modelling one

Knowledge about the following is expected:

- Subdivision surfaces
- Edgeloop and Edgerings
- Quad polygons

You can learn more about this from here:

The steps are color coded:

blue means something has been added
red means something has been deleted

1)

Since the leg is basically a cylinder that's

what we start out with. 8 sides and 5 heights
tall.

2)

We twist the upper edges a little to follow the

flow of the thigh muscles and start forming
the knees and calves.

3)

Then we subdivide the 8-sided cross section

to 16. We also add more loops in the height
for detail. Add as much as the level of detail
asks for.

4)

Here's something I do to shape the thigh

muscles as well as add some more loops to
later be attached to the crotch

5)

A few more loops to add shape

6)

Then we attach the foot we make in this

tutorial and we're done!
