First of all, I’m going to ask you some questions about you. (Select two or three of the following
questions to ask students in turn.)

3. Tell me about something you can do well.
4. Tell me about your daily routine.
5. Tell me what you do in your free time.

Section II (4-5 minutes)

In this part of the test, you’re going to have a conversation with your partner. Please choose a set
of cards. The cards contain the necessary information for your conversation.

SITUATION 1

STUDENT A

Start your conversation:

• Ask your partner for advice on one of the following situations: you’ve broken
up with your boyfriend/girlfriend, your boss has criticised your work, you’ve
lost some important documents.

Include as many details about the event as possible. (What happened?, when did it happen?,
where did it happen?, how was it?, etc.).

STUDENT B

Listen to your partner telling you about a problem they’ve had. Give him/her some advice to solve
the problem.

SITUATION 2

STUDENT A

Start your conversation:

• Ask your partner for help to organise one of the following events: a surprise
birthday party for a friend, a work meeting, an end of course party with your English
classmates.

Include as much information as possible.

STUDENT B

Help your partner organise the event they mention.

STUDENT A

Start your conversation:

• Invite your partner to one of these events: a movie, a concert, a walk around the city.

Give your partner as much information about the event as possible.
