Template for a JV Meeting to Set Up Guest Blog Post Partnering

You’ve agreed to do a guest blog post for a blog publisher. Here’s what you need to cover:

☐ Decide on due dates for submitting and publishing the blog posts.
☐ Agree on the exact topic, the title of the blog post, and the freebie you’ll promote at the end.
☐ Agree on a bio at the beginning or the end. It can be something in your voice or something the
publisher writes about you, to introduce you as the guest poster.

☐ Decide on the promotional media to use. Email should always be used. If someone has no email
list but offers to promote on social media only, I’d be wary. In most cases, people already have a
method for promoting their blog posts. (You should have one, too.)

☐ Ask the blog post publisher to also promote your free offer, along with the blog post. Some
don’t want to do that, but ask.

☐ Commit to promoting it in the same way you’d like to be promoted. You may decide on specific
promotional dates or else just schedule your own.

☐ Come up with a suggested goal, e.g., 50 clicks to your opt-in page, just to set the tone and
create a bit of a push. Consider using a unique trackable link so you know which clicks come from
the guest blog post.

☐ After it’s all done, evaluate your performance and your partner’s performance. How many new
subscribers did you get? Was it worth it?
