requires that this bulletin be completed on all affected models with the listed serial numbers at their
next regularly scheduled service interval.

This bulletin is also available on our website at: www.skyjack.com.

Procedure:

The units listed under “Serial Numbers Affected” must have the CAN Controller Installation kit
(Skyjack part # 232397) installed at their next regularly scheduled service interval as the attached
procedure (Skyjack part # 232520). Only qualified and authorized personnel shall be permitted to
service an aerial platform.

Parts and Warranty Policy:

Skyjack will reimburse up to 1 hour for labor to complete this bulletin. Skyjack will provide the
necessary parts.

Wiring kits (Skyjack part # 232397) must be ordered through our Skyjack Parts Department. Please
use the attached Parts Kit Shipment Request Form.

Upon completion of this service bulletin, submit a warranty claim form for each machine stating that
Service Bulletin #156 has been completed. To ensure payment of claim, submit within 30 days of
bulletin completion and no later than one year from bulletin issue date.

Ownership of Machines:

Skyjack requires that you promptly notify us of a new owner’s contact information if you have sold or
transferred any machine. In particular, if you have sold or transferred a machine(s) with the serial
numbers listed above, it is required that you promptly notify Skyjack of the new owner’s contact
information. In addition to notifying Skyjack, this service bulletin must also be forwarded to the new
machine owner.

Section 2 – Before You Start
2.1 Machine Preparation

Section 3 – Procedures
3.1 Remove the pressure 4. Have some rags on hand to catch leaking
hydraulic oil. Use a 1-1/8" wrench to loosen and
switch remove the pressure fitting (hold the fitting below
with an 11/16" wrench).

2. Locate the pressure switch in the T fitting at the
front of the drive pump.

5. Use an 11/16" wrench to remove the two straight


fittings below the pressure switch.

3. Disconnect the pressure switch from the


harness.

6. Install a cap fitting (107666) on the open end of 3.2 Base control box wiring

5. Use the provided zip ties (102897) to neatly bundle the new wires to the existing wires.
6. Close and latch the base control box door.

Section 5 – Testing
5.1 Test the CAN controller
1. Turn the main power disconnect switch to the on position.
2. Insert the key. Turn the base/off/platform key switch to the platform position.
3. Pull out the emergency stop button on the base control box.
4. Pull out the emergency stop button on the platform control box.
5. Start the engine.
Result: The LED on the CAN module lights up green, then flashes slowly.
If the LED lights up red or yellow, refer to the Diagnostic Trouble Codes chart below, or contact the Skyjack
service department for assistance.
6. Disconnect the CAN harness from the CAN controller in the base control box.
7. Select low torque on the platform control console.
8. Try to drive the MEWP forward.
Result: The MEWP does not drive.
9. Plug the CAN harness back into the CAN controller.
10. Try to drive the MEWP forward.
Result: The MEWP drives forward.

5.2 Function tests


1. Perform all of the function tests given in your unit’s operation manual.

5.3 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)

Check the wiring from the CAN
