Family Interaction

The family's most important aspect is interaction because without interacting with each other, there is
no connection. According to Wang, B., Taylor, L., & Sun Q. (2018), the more constant family members
play video games together, the stronger family satisfaction and family closeness they have. It is also
manifested that older and younger adults who play games with their family members reveals that
sharing in video games does foster relationships and connections while producing positive emotions for
both generations (Sanela Osmanovic, Loretta Pecchioni (2016)). However, families with weak family
communication profit more from co-players than those with good family communication (Wang, B.,
Taylor, L., & Sun Q. (2018)). Sarah M Coyne, Laura M Padilla-Walker, Laura Stockdale, Randal D Day
(2011) claimed that playing games was still associated with several negative outcomes, including
heightened internalizing and aggressive behavior, and lowered prosocial behavior. Nevertheless, co-
playing video games with parents was associated with decreased levels of internalizing and aggressive
behaviors, and heightened prosocial behavior for girls only. On the other hand, King, D. L., & Delfabbro,
P. H. (2017) explained that gamers tend to have less confidence and communication, and greater
resentment and separation, in their maternal and paternal relationships, as compared to adolescents
without gaming problems.
