Course Code: HPC 103 Credit Units: 3 Course Title: Applied Business Tools and Technologies
Course Component: Lecture 3 Prerequisite(s): Course Description: This course identifies common tools, technology and techniques used in the tourism
Units THC108 and hospitality industry. Design to primarily on student’s ability to recognize, evaluate and integrate business
technologies in order to create value, solve contemporary issues, and gain competitive advantage in what has
become a tech-driven business environment in the tourism industry. The student must know the technological
principles of the functioning of ecommerce systems, various types of business models of e-commerce
systems, various forms of payment services in e-commerce, internet-based marketing. The student should be
able to select and implement an effective strategy of e-commerce for its tourism business.

Course Outcomes: At the end of the course the students will be able to;
1. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the field of information and communication technology in tourism and
hospitality industry.
2. Perform basic functions of management such as planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
3. Apply information and communication technology skills required by business environment
4. Manage and market service oriented business organization
5. Show ability to perform in a multicultural work place and work effectively as a team in globally- diverse environment.
6. Exemplify professional, social and ethical responsibility.
7. Utilize various communication channels proficiently in dealing with guest and colleagues.
