1. What are the most common types of exceptionalities found in today’s classrooms?
School requires hard work in order to be successful. However, for some
students, even hard work may not be enough. Some students are faced with
additional challenges in the classroom due to learning disabilities. A learning
disability is a disorder that inhibits the ability to process and retain information.
Because there are numerous mental processes that affect learning, learning
disabilities can vary dramatically. Here are five of the most common learning
disabilities in classrooms today.
DYSLEXIA- is the perhaps the best known learning disability.
ADHD-Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder has affective more than 6.4
million children at some point.
Dyscalculia- math is another major area of concern when it comes
learning disabilities.
Dysgraphia- while reading disabilities receive the most attention, writing
disabilities can be equally difficult to overcome.
Processing deficits- learning disabilities are also connected to processing
deficits.
