What*is*2*D*and*3D?*

A$shape$that$only$has$two$dimensions$(such$as$width$and$height)$and$no$thickness.$
Squares,$Circles,$Triangles,$etc$are$twoBdimensional$objects.$Also$known$as$"2D".$

A$3D$shape$is$any$shape$or$object$that$takes$up$air$space.*3D$means$threeM
dimensional,$or$having$three$dimensions.$For$example,$a$box$is$threeMdimensional;$it$
is$solid,$and$not$thin$like$a$piece$of$paper.$It$has$volume,$a$top$and$bottom,$left$and$
right$(sides),$as$well$as$a$front$and$back.$You$can$turn$the$box$around$to$view$it$from$
another$side$(called$a$face,$surface$or$simply$side).*

Shapes$are$made$by$connecting$lines.$Circle,$square,$triangle,$and$freeform$are$words$
used$ to$ identify$ shapes.$ Look$ at$ the$ objects$ around$ you$ and$ describe$ their$ basic$
shapes.$Are$they$one$shape,$or$are$they$a$combination$of$many$shapes?$After$doing$
this$several$times,$you$will$begin$to$understand$what$shape$really$is.$Line$creates$two$
dimensional$or$flat$shapes.$When$shapes$are$three$dimensional,$we$call$them$forms.$
A$circle$is$a$shape;$a$ball$is$a$form.$A$square$is$a$shape;$a$cube$is$a$form.$A$drawing$is$a$
