School of Mechanical Engineering in association with American Axles Ltd. (AAM) Pune is
arranging a Faculty development program (FDP) on Topic “Axle Design Philosophy”.
The session will benefit to Enhance industry academia relations and teachers will get benefited
with real life applications on following topics.

1. Application engineering – Techno commercial aspect, collection of customer’s voice

and converting in to suitable engineering parameters.  Program management /Change
management
2. Systems and Component engineering – Detailed design of system level and component
level. Decide analytical and physical test plan, Define and deploy design best practices
3. Materials and Heat treatment – deciding materials and their HT and other coating
processes as per customer requirements and meeting design goal.
4. CAD – creation of models, drawings and stack ups etc as per engineering inputs
5. CAE – analysis of components and system to satisfy customer requirements
6. Prototype and testing – making proto parts, assembling axle and testing as per
specifications. Giving feedbacks.
