Position: Research Professor CART Faculty:

Reporting to: Dy-Director(Research) (CART) Reporting Team: Research teams (Faculty members,
Doctoral, MTech students)
Brief about the profile:

Centre where knowledge is generated are limited to the government-funded Institutes barring a handful of
privately owned and managed exceptions. In order to remain competitive, and stand at par with these
organizations, it is clear that MIT-WPU needs to rapidly create viable research vertical along with the routine
undergraduate and postgraduate programs. As this vertical will contribute to that knowledge creation expected
to happen in Universities. More importantly, there is a need to create an ecosystem within MIT-WPU capable of
supporting employees with research potential providing them with the necessary means like infrastructure so
that knowledge can be created.

Proposed “Centre for Advanced Research and Technology” or CART will operate as a centre of excellence on the
MIT-WPU campus and will be the primary location for knowledge creation on campus. Slated to be developed
over a span of three to five years, the centre will incorporate existing laboratories on campus, upgrade their
capacities, and in addition to these, create an additional research workspace.

Teaching Responsibilities:

Full-time researcher working under this centre may be required to teach a topic/part of the syllabus.
He may not have a regular load or may not be engaged in other administrative tasks. In case of a
faculty working under this centre is also engaged in academics then academic load + API calculations
of faculty will be updated/ modified trimester wise, considering their research contributions. Criteria
to be a Full-time researcher will be laid down and in accordance with that, a person will qualify to be a
full-time researcher.
Selection Criteria:

1. The Professor shall be appointed by the Selection Committee constituted by Dean, FoET,
consisting of at least five members including the Dean (FoET) as chairman, Director (CART)
and experts in the field of technical education and research can be part of the Research
review council.

2. The Professor shall be appointed as per MIT WPU policy, if any incumbent faculty member
needs to be deputed as a research professor in CART then he will be working as Research
Professor without any changes in his service conditions.

3. Candidates having a Citation more than 100 and funded project of INR 50 Lacs or above will
be eligible to apply.

Professor- Responsibilities Core

1. The CART Vertical Professor will be research leader, capable of:

a. maintaining the confidence and cooperation of research center members;

b. Publish 3 to 4 research papers in Scopus indexed journals during a typical project


period of two years.

c. Identify and file at least one idea for Patent within two years.

d. managing effectively and efficiently the research program and administrative affairs
of the research center; and

e. creating an environment conducive to intellectual and research growth.

2. Research center Professor will be responsible for providing research leadership, which
normally includes:

a. developing networks between the research center and researchers in the field in the
public and private sectors, locally, nationally and internationally;

b. Engage one training program for MIT-WPU FoET faculty members working in the
similar technological field and one for the Industry showcasing the research every
year.

c. where applicable, developing mutually beneficial linkages with industry in order to


develop partnerships and collaborative research;

d. transferring knowledge to society through outreach (e.g. collaborative research;


seminars; workshops; lectures; websites; publications) and, where applicable,
through technology transfer (e.g. collaborative research; contract work; and
commercialization of intellectual property);

e. developing strong linkages with appropriate academic departments and units and
adding value to line departments through:

i. Assist in faculty and student enrollment under CART vertical and retention by
enriching the research environment;

ii. upgrading MIT WPU FoET curriculum;

iii. providing interdisciplinary research training and mentoring for undergraduate


and graduate students; and

iv. regular communication of research center activities and opportunities for

faculty and students’ involvement.

f. Develop strong relations with Research Organizations Nationally and Internationally.


In case of Universities, it is essential to have them ranked at par or above MIT WPU
ranking.
