When young British people leave / stop school, they face some difficult decisions. Some
students pick / decide to get jobs right away while others go straight to university. Some choose
to take / hold a year out, travelling and experiencing / learning about other cultures.
Whether it’s spending / lasting 12 months teaching English in Africa or offering / volunteering in
a national park, a gap year can be extremely beneficial. Being in an unfamiliar environment
forces you to make / develop self-confidence.
