ART Appreciation Mid-Session Project Guidelines

Description: The Mid-Session project is a pair project where you trace the history and
development of a form of art. This a major requirement which will comprise 50% of your
final grade.

Specific Instructions:

1. Each pair is to choose an art form (Music, Architecture, Dance, Visual, Film, Fashion).
Then choose one specific form under each category:
a. Music: Rap, Rock, Ballad, RnB, Folk, Musical, etc.
b. Architecture: A specific historical building or the urban architectural
development of a city
c. Dance: Folk, Contemporary, Pop, Ballet, etc
d. Visual Arts: Paintings, Sculpture, and other artistic expressions
e. Film: Any film genre
f. Fashion: Modern clothes, ethnic clothes, ethnic textiles, styles trends
2. The Title of your project must be: “One Hundred Years of (Your Chosen Art Form)”
Ex. “One Hundred Years of Modern Sculpture in Zamboanga”
3. Once a topic has been chosen, research the history and development of that art form
in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula for the last 100 years (1920-2020). The focus of the
research is how your chosen art form was introduced in the region or how it started
and thrived locally.
4. After a thorough research, create a visual synthesis of your chosen art’s history and
development and organize this information in a PowerPoint presentation or a Video
(The length of the video is dependent on the content, however, 20-30 minutes shall
suffice). The content of your synthesis should include pictures, images, and
descriptions of the art form’s development by era or decade. Your creativity and how
you succinctly capture the 100 years development are important criteria.
5. Submission deadline is March 6, 2021 through the shared folder in your Google drive
(please see course outline on this).
