SAVOUR FOODS
INTRODUCTION / HISTORY:
“Savour Foods” is one of the famous eating places of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Most of the
population of twin cities is aware of “Savour Foods”. It is located in populated area of
Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Haji Muhammad Naeem belongs from a religious and landlord family of Gojra, Toba Tek
Singh.. He started selling pulao at cart at Gordon College Road Rawalpindi in early 80’s. This
was the time when Rawalpindi was developing as Business Hub and demand of ready to eat
quality food was emerging in population. He realized the need of the emerging customers at
large and started planning to develop the Dining place which may fulfill the increasing demand
of the customers. He started the first Savour Foods restaurant with the support of his family in
the year 1988. It was a small restaurant in a small shop near Gordon College, Rawalpindi. The
restaurant comprised of a very small kitchen and a sitting area with about 20 chairs in it. The
things were tough at that time. The shop was opened in a residential area and there was not
much hustle and bustle in the area at that time.

• Established 2nd branch of “Savour Foods” in Melody Food Park on 7th august 2001 to
meet the demand of the customers of Islamabad.
• On 24th March 2005, a new branch of “Savour Foods” was opened at Blue Area to meet
the demand of officials of private offices located in Islamabad. Students were also targeted
by them.
• Flourished 4th branch at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Food market on 14th august 2005. It
was the first branch where a fast food sister brand was introduced with the name of “Savour
Krispo”.
• The fifth branch of Savour Foods was also opened in the year 2005. It was inaugurated on
14th August 2005. It is located in the Cricket Stadium Food Street, Double Road,
Rawalpindi.

THEIR SURVIVING STRATEGY:
In the beginning the things were not so good for Savour Foods. The profits were quite small
and the space was very limited. But, despite all difficulties, Savour Foods always maintained
its standard. Special attention was given to ensure the cleanliness and the quality of the food
served to the customers.

TECHNOLOGY:
Since 2002 with the introduction of mechanized rice plant system and rice combine harvesters;
today they have latest rice milling and processing facilities based upon technology. They also
have installed a latest plant for making shami Kababs. These plants are maintained properly
under the supervision of very competitive engineers. the adoption of technology in the form of
Rice processing plant, Shami kabab making plant and dish washer have increased their output
and helped them to minimize the cost of production by controlling wastage. It is also saving
time and helping to manage the high demands of the customers and also maintaining the
International hygienic standards

INITIAL INVESTMENT AND CURRENT MARKET SHARE:

• Initially it was a small restaurant in a small shop near Gordon College, Rawalpindi with
initial investment of 50,000. The restaurant comprised of a very small kitchen and a sitting
area with about 20 chairs in it. The things were tough at that time. The shop was opened in
a residential area and there was not much hustle and bustle in the area at that time.
• The market share for Savour Foods in fast food chain is 22%. Whereas, the market share
Savour Foods in Pulao is almost 85% as that of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

EMPLOYEES AND BENEFITS FOR THEM:


It has 100% human resource with 3968 employees in total catering 9968 daily customers.
Following facilities and rewards are given by the Savour Foods to their employees.

• Provident fund is maintained for permanent employees
• Accommodation to the lower staff is provided
• Transportation to the lower staff those use accommodation of company is also provided
• Minimum salary of the employee is 10,000
THE PROBLEMS BEING FACED BY SAVOUR FOODS:

The major problems that Savour Foods has to deal with are shortage of Sui Gas, regular load-
shedding of electricity, and dealing with different political regimes that come into power.
However, difficulties and challenges are a part of doing business anywhere in the world.

• recruitment and training of kitchen teams members
• more branches in twin cities
• developing ERP solutions for SAVOUR FOODS network
• develop and implement system to keep quality and taste in line

• opening SAVOUR rice re-processing mills in 2001
• MILK collection farm at Kot Momin – Sargodha
• a separate Chicken Slaughter house
• a separate rice cleaning/sorter plant
• a central GODOWN for storage major supplies
