Design Of Experience
Full factorial Design
2^k Designs

K factors

L=2

 2 level factorial design with k factors can be represented

Levels: Coded -1 for minimum

Coded+1 for maximum

 Center point: Used to measure process stability/variability, as well as check for curvature of
the response surface.  Not necessary, but highly recommended.  Level coded as 0.

We will use a 3 factors full factorial design with Center Point

The
useful of this function is to Display Available Designs Tab

 Green that Valid design (available by the number of the factors)

 Yellow use Caution
 Red inaccurate design

Now

 We know which factors affect response

 Then find dependence of response on those factors

For that we need more than 2 levels (min and max values of each factors)

DOE outputs give

 First table is giving the DOE output

* The P value

*Coef for regression equation

*R-Sq(R squared value) among others R-Sq values

We both focus on the table of the output to determine which effect is significant to the response

 The other table is giving the DOE output

*The definition of alpha values we use the default 95% Confidence level CL

*Alpha=0.05 known statistically ***

Therefore we conclude that any effect with a

 P (value) <0.05 lower than alpha so the effect is significant

 P (value) > 0.05 (greater than alpha)  effect is not significant

Then we conclude witch effects are significant

In addition we can see the factors that we tested model are response well because

The R-Sq=99.55%

 P values : means main effects interactions

 DF is degree of Freedom for Residual Error =8 (Model) -3 (Linear) -3 (2-Way Interactions)
+1(3-Way Interactions )+1(Curvature/center point) =0
 Noted (*) in this example couldn’t calculate the P value because (DF) for residual error =0
 MSE is the mean square of the error =0 so we could not divide by Zero

R squared value
 The General rule for R-sq value that when value above 80% (R-sq>80%)

The model is valid and factors response well

From the DOE output

 we are also told the Coef of the effects in a regression equation form model

 The Coefficients are displayed for all effects, we are only interested for the Coef of
significant effects

The regression equation of the response

 Positive Coefficient means directly proportional

 Negative Coef means universally proportional relationship

PARETO Plot and Cube Plot

We can also observe significant effects graphically in the PARETO Plot

Is a tool that represents individual Values of effects in descending order.

This particular PARETO plot show as significant effects present in our experiment

 The red line in this case Called the standardized effect Value
 Any bars is reaching beyond the Standardized effect line are significant effects

 We can see also Cube Plot for Response
