PUMPING
INTEGRITY TEST
1.0 Purpose
1.1 The purpose of this procedure is to set safe work guidelines for performing
integrity tests. The objective is to maximize the longevity and productivity of
the well, and minimize well maintenance cost for SESI operations.
2.0 Scope
2.1 This procedure applies to all well integrity testing operations conducted by
SESI Business Units.
3.0 Responsibilities
3.1 Vice President of Corporate HSEQ responsibilities are:
3.1.1 Administration, interpretation, and maintenance of this document to
keep it current with business conditions.
3.2 SESI Business Unit Management and HSEQ Manager responsibilities are:
3.2.1 Ensuring compliance with this document at the SESI Business
Management level and performing the activities as described
4.0 General
4.1 A pre‐job safety meeting with all involved personnel must be conducted prior
to commencing well integrity operations. All associated records (JSA, risk
assessment and permit to work) must be reviewed and completed.
4.2 An announcement should be made to inform all personnel working in the
vicinity about the operations being performed. All unnecessary personnel
shall be removed from the test area.
4.3 Ensure radio communications are fully charged and operable.
4.4 Confirm the pressure rating for all equipment prior to use and ensure it is
used within the maximum allowable working pressure.
4.5 At a minimum, pressure‐testing data should be recorded on a suitable
calibrated chart recorder.

6.2 Remove any installed retrievable devices, such as an Insert DHSV or a storm
choke, and install a retrievable plug below the deepest completion seals.
6.3 Rig up the pump trucks.
6.4 Bleed pressure in the A annulus to 0 psi and refill the annulus fluid level with
compatible completion fluid. Volumes are to be recorded.
6.5 Pressure test the tubing ‐ seal assembly integrity as per field data.
6.6 All pressures should be verified prior to test.
6.7 Ensure the side‐outlet wellhead valves of annuli A and annuli B are fully
open. Use a calibrated chart recorder to record the test.
6.8 Test surface lines to 1.2 times the maximum testing pressure to be used for
tubing and annulus tests.
6.9 Perform 300psi low pressure test inside the completion for 5 minutes.
Record all volumes pumped and returned throughout the test.
6.10 Gradually increase the pressure to 1,000 psi and monitor for 10 minutes.
6.11 Continue in increments of 1,000 psi to reach the maximum pressure
required. Once the final pressure has been achieved and it has stabilized,
monitor and record for a minimum of 30 minutes. Monitor the tubing, A and
B annulus for returns.
6.12 If any leaks are detected during the tubing/seal assembly test, pressure test
the A annulus as follows:
Note: Ensure the tubing and B annulus are open to atmosphere.
6.12.1 Raise pressure to 500 psi for 5 minutes as low pressure test.
6.12.2 Increase pressure in 300 psi increments to maximum pressure
required for 10 minutes for each increment.
PUMPING
INTEGRITY TEST
6.12.3 Once the maximum pressure has been achieved, and it has
stabilized, monitor and record the pressure for a minimum of 30
minutes. Observe the tubing, and A and B annulus returns.
6.12.4 If the source of the leak is not confirmed at this stage, set another
retrievable bridge plug above the seal assembly before continuing
and repeat the test again, until a successful test has been achieved.
6.13 Pressure test the completion above the seal assembly as follows:
6.13.1 Raise pressure to 1,000 psi for 10 minutes.
6.13.2 Continue in increments of 1,000 psi to maximum pressure
recommended for integrity and once it has stabilized, monitor and
record the pressures for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Note: Review the acceptable leak rates in Well Intervention Program.
If it is confirmed that the PBR is leaking above the acceptable limit,
the only option is to POOH with the Completion.
6.14 Set a type J Two Way Check Valve (TWCV) in the tubing hanger. Pressure test
the TWCV to 300 psi for 5 minutes and then slow increments for 30 minutes.
6.15 Bleed off all pressure.
6.16 Remove the production tree.
6.17 Remove the tubing head adaptor and inspect for damage.
6.18 Remove and replace the SBMS metal seal and the S elastomer seal.
6.19 Install tubing head adaptor and pressure test to maximum pressure rating
for 30 minutes.
6.20 Assuming all test have been successful, install the production tree and
pressure test.
6.21 Remove the TWCV.
6.22 Retrieve the retrievable bridge plugs.
