DETAILED DRAWING

We can say this is the final stage of machine design because it gives the detailed general
overview of how the machine would be. This stage of machine design can be done in
two categories, that is, drawing of individual components and the detailed assembly
drawing of the machine.
DESIGN OF INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS
This simply consists of a detailed drawing of the individual components of the machine,
taking into consideration the different forces (stresses and strains) they are exposed to,
materials they are made of, load bearing capacity and geometric drawings.
DETAILED ASSEMBLY DRAWING
The designer prepares an assembly drawing of the machine. This gives the correct view,
how the machine would be looking at when fabricated. On this drawing, the material of
the components, dimensions, tolerances, surface finish grades and machine symbols are
specified. The design drawing must be clear, concise and complete. It must have enough
view and cross section to show every detail. Two lists of machine components to be
purchased and that to be machined in the factory should be made. Now many CAD
software AutoCAD, Autodesk, etc with lots of design features are there to assist in this
type of drawings.
IMPORTANCE OF DETAILED DRAWING
 It clearly shows how the proposed machine would look like when fabricated.
 It helps an individual to clearly communicate his or her imaginative idea to the
public.
 It gives the opportunity to know the exact measurement of element making up
the machine system, thus, communication ideas between a designer and a
manufacturer.
 It serves as a completion checker.
