Title: Development of poultry and its effect on the environment
Author (s): P. Gerber, C. Opio and H. Steinfeld
Summary:
2.1
It's all about poultry production and the environment, and the poultry industry's
expansion and trends toward intensification and concentration have sparked a slew of
environmental issues.
2.2
This research examines the environmental consequences of extensive poultry
production across the food chain and across all environmental media. Technical options to
mitigate environmental consequences, such as improved farm management, animal waste
management, and nutrition management, as well as solutions to lessen the impacts of intensive
feed production, are also presented in the study.
2.3
The assessment covers the majority of the issues associated with poultry production, as
the environmental impacts of backyard or mixed extensive systems are minor due to the low
concentration of wastes and reliance on locally available feed sources, such as food residues,
crop residues, or feed collected by free-roaming birds.

Title: Challenges to the Poultry Industry: Current Perspectives and Strategic Future After the
COVID-19 Outbreak
Summary:
2.1
It all comes down to the Poultry immunity, health, and production are just a few of the
factors threatening the poultry industry's future growth. Poultry is inextricably linked to
foodborne and zoonotic diseases. Foodborne and zoonotic pathogen eradication, elimination,
and/or control pose a significant challenge to the poultry industry.
2.2
It is expected that COVID-19 lockdowns will reduce animal welfare due to a shortage of
workers for daily animal care and farming. A recent trend in mineral nutrition has focused on
replacing inorganic minerals with organic sources and nanoparticles. Fast and affordable
diagnostic tools and supplementary methods to prevent diseases are urgently needed. The
research and development in poultry disease identification and control should not be limited to
currently known diseases.
2.3
A vaccine is regarded as one of the most beneficial immune interventions due to its
ability to promote protection against infectious diseases by directing the immune system in a
specific direction. Vaccination has had and will continue to have a significant impact on the
industry's development and strategic growth. Vaccine efficacy is also influenced by a variety of
factors, including passive and active immunity.
