ABOUT PERIPHERAL VASCULAR SURGERY

Peripheral Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which

diseases of the vascular system, or arteries, veins and lymphatic

circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally -

invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction.

The vascular surgeon is trained in the diagnosis and management

of diseases affecting all parts of the vascular system excluding the

coronaries and intracranial vasculature.

OUR TREATMENTS

VARICOSE VEINS

Varicose veins are defined as “subcutaneous veins in the

lower extremities which are dilated to ≥3 mm in diameter in
the upright position”.

They can occur in the axial superficial veins (GSV and SSV)
and/or in any of their tributaries.

Diagnosis is made by clinical examination and colour dop-

pler. The current modalities of treatment include Laser abla-
tion, Radio-frequency ablation, sclerotherapy, venaseal,
opensurgical ligation and stripping, compreasion garments
and medical management.

DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS

A deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is the formation

of a blood clot in a deep vein, most commonly
in the leg but it can also occur in the arm. The
vein can be either partially or completely
blocked.
Symptoms can include pain, swelling, redness,
and enlarged veins in the affected area

Diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis(Dvt) is

made by clinical examination, color doppler,
venography or IVUS.

Treatment of dvt is done as per the extent of

thrombus, symptoms and age of thrombus. It
includes medical management by vitamin K
antagonists, factor X inhibitors, heparin, low
molecular weight heparin.

Catheter directed thrombolysis, venoplasty

Venous stenting.

GANGRENE

Gangrene is a type of tissue death caused by a lack

of blood supply. Symptoms may include a change
in skin color to red or black, numbness, swelling,
pain, skin breakdown, and coolness.

Peripheral artery angioplasty

(say"puh-RIFF-er-rull AR-ter-ree
ANN-jee-oh-plass-tee") is a procedure to
treat peripheral arterial disease of the legs.
The procedure widens narrowed arteries in
the pelvis or legs. It can help blood flow
better. This may decrease leg pain or help
wounds heal better.
The angioplasty is done without any cut ot
stitching and the recovery is quick with pa-
tient able to mobilise next day and able to
resume his normal activities in 3-4 days. the
procedure is quick, rarely requires blood
transfusion and less postoperative pain

VASCULAR TRAUMA

In trauma sometimes major vessels supplying blood to the

limb gets injured, therefore to salvage the limb it is neces-
sary to repair the injured vessels vascular treatment in
jaipur.

The vascular trauma is a limb threatning condition in

which limb loss is certain, if early and right treatment is
not provided. vascular trauma requires quick mobilisation
to the place where vascular repair facility is available.

DIALYSIS ACCESS

Chronic kidney disease is a condition with progressive

loss of kidney function. at stage 5 disease the patient
either need a kidney transplant or he needs main-
tainence hemodialysis. for hemodialysis, dialysis access
is required, the dialysis access can be of following types
temporary dialysis catheter, permacatheter, arterio-ve-
nous fistula, vein transposition, arterio-venous graft.
