Section A: Directed Writing

Your school recently organised a Say “No” To Plastic Campaign. You have decided to write
a letter to your friend to share information about what had taken place.

Use the notes given below to write your letter:

• when was the campaign held

• who officiated the campaign
• reason why the campaign was important to be carried out at your school

Contributing factors to the plastic problem

• mass consumption of plastic

Effects on the environment

• pollutes rivers and oceans
• enters food cycle

Ways to reduce plastic use

Activities

When writing the letter you should remember to:

Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics.

1 If you had the chance to live anywhere in the world, where would you choose to
live?
Explain what would be good about living there, and what challenges you might face.

2 Which do you think is more enjoyable, going for holidays at the beach or the city?
Compare the two and decide which one you like better?

3 Social media has brought out the negative sides of people.

How far do you agree? Explain why?

4 Write a story of a group outing that turned into a disaster.

Begin your story with: “It was a fine day and we were all very excited…….”

5 Describe the first time you took part in the Canteen Day in your school.
Write about the preparations that were done, the activities during the Canteen Day
and explain how you felt about the experience.
