1. How important is communicating as a function of engineering management?


 Effective communication in engineering is critical to ensuring that all project participants are on the
same page. When it comes to demonstrating good communication skills, managers and others in
leadership positions face a high bar.
2. What is communication? How may it be done?
 Communication is a process of exchanging thoughts or idea through verbal and non verbal action, it can
be done when there are two or more people exchanging words or ideas.
3. For what purposes may communication be used in the organization?

4. What are the steps in the communication process?
 There are eight steps in communication process, the sender and then it develops idea and then it
encodes then transmit message to receiver who receives messages and then decode that can accept or
reject the messages.
5. What is a communication channel? how may each of the channel types be described?
 Communication channels can be categorized into three principal channels: (1) verbal, (2) written, and (3)
non-verbal. Each of these communications channels have different strengths and weaknesses, and
oftentimes we can use more than one channel at the same time.
6. What is meant by “noise”?
 Noise is an unwanted sounded coming from the surrounding and it sometimes become a barrier of
communication process.
7. What is “decoding”? how may it be successfully achieved?
 The decoding of a message is how an audience member is able to understand, and interpret the
message. It is a process of interpretation and translation of coded information into a comprehensible
form. ... Effective communication is accomplished only when the message is received and understood in
the intended way.
8. What are the forms of communication? How is one different from each other?
 Verbal communication occurs when we engage in speaking with others. Non-
Verbal Communication. What we do while we speak often says more than the actual words. ...
9. How may barriers to communication be classified?
 Barriers to communication can be classified into three parts, the personal barriers, physical barriers, and
the semantic barriers.
10. How may communication barriers be overcome?
 We can overcome barriers in communication by using feeback to facilitate understanding and increase
the potential of appropriate action and repeat message in order to provide assurance that they are
properly received.
11. What techniques may be used in communication?
 We can used either downward or upwardtechniques in communication where upward communication
consists of problem and exception suggestion for improvement, performance reports, while downward
consist of implementing of goals strategies and objectives, job instruction and rationale.
12. What is a management information system? What are its purposes?
 A management information system is a computer system consisting of hardware and software that
serves as the backbone of an organization's operations. An MIS gathers data from multiple
online systems, analyzes the information, and reports data to aid in management decision-making.
