Behavior Therapy

Behavior therapy focus on direct observable behavior,

current determinants of behavior, learning experiences that
promote change tailoring treatment strategies and rigorous
assessment and evaluation. This therapy has been used to treat
wide range of psychological disorders. Anxiety disorders,
depressions, posttraumatic, stress disorder, substance abuse,
eating and weight disorders has been successfully using this
behavior therapy. Behaviorist believe that we respond in
predictable ways because of the gain we experience or because we
need to escape or avoid unpleasant consequences. Behavioral
approaches emphasize self-management skills and a range of new
coping behaviors, as well as how to restructure their thoughts.
These techniques can learn to control lives, deal effectively
with present and future problems. Behavior therapy is diverse
with respect not only in the basic concept that can applied in
coping with specific problems.

Behavior therapy may change behaviors, but it does not

change feelings. It means feelings must change behavior can
change. Another criticism of behavior therapy is that it treats
symptoms rather than causes. It respond with the argument that it
is natural for humans to conceptualize a cause and effect
relationship in behavior. This is an example of sequential
learning and is used in many ways to describe the process of
progress.
