ABOUT ME!

Hi! I am Ensirah T. Basmala. A grade 12 student in Iligan Medical Center

College- Basic Education Department. I love to write and eat a lot.

This morning, I will describe a place as beautiful as I am.

PROVINCE OF FUN: POONA PIAGAPO LANAO DEL NORTE.

I was 11 years old when I saw the true province of mine. The place where

I was born, my parents grew up, stayed together and loved each other.

I still remember at first when riding in a jeep with big wheels. I don't know

why the tires are so big until the car gradually started moving and our trip

was a bit long, my seat suddenly shook, as did the others in the car and I

couldn't help but look outside, which is why it happened because of the

uneven road, full of mud and rocks that could not be passed by

motorcycles or taxis. The road is also full of trees, coconut trees and we

also pass by lakes full of people. Some are bathing, doing laundry and
others are picking cassava leaves. Maybe to make it a dish because it is

delicious and trendy for as Muslims.

I wondered why people do laundry there so I immediately asked my

mother what is the reason behind those and I was shocked by my mother's

answer. The reason is because the people there do not have their own

bathroom and it is not fashionable to have their own water inside their

home.

I suddenly became weak. I don't know if I can live as they do. I was four

years old when I first came here. I didn't know that our province was like

this because I can't remember anything. I was young then.

Even though the flight was long, we arrived safely at our destination.

Where our house is. I forgot to say that the Municipality of Poona Piagapo

comprises 26 Brgy’s. We were located in Brgy Puned. As we approached

the house, I looked around. The design of our homes is very similar and

made entirely of wood. There are also small shops that I still remember,

prices are expensive.

When I entered the house, I immediately stood by the window and felt

the breeze and the coolness of the air. How delicious to feel! Whereas in

Iligan city which is very hot. All of a sudden, someone hugged my back,

my dearest and favorite cousin. She invited me to visit Brgy. Denaig. SHe

told me that the brgy. sells popular foods in our province.

When we got there, I was greeted by different types of food that I only

heard and we Muslims are proud of. These are TAPAY, that are made up

of milks, nuts, corn, ice cream and ice cubes, AMIK, made up of flour,

ground rice and various flavors, BRUWA, made up of ground rice, eggs and

sweet flavors and most of all Dodol that made up of ground rice, coconut

milk and durian.

The taste is obvious! It’s yummy!

As I look around me, as well as the people who happily eat and talk, I

realize that no matter how simple the lifestyle we have, it will still give us

eternal happiness if we can learn to handle small things and look at each

other with love and respect.
