Breastfeeding Policy
 
Introduction:

LayBare Philippines Inc. recognizes the importance of breastfeeding for both mother
and baby and hereby supports and promotes breastfeeding.
 
Objective:

LayBare Philippines Inc. shall provide facilities and support as necessary to enable
mothers in their employment to balance breastfeeding / breastmilk expression with their
work.   

Scope:

This policy applies to all new mothers in our company regardless of rank, status and
position.
 
Guidelines and Procedure:

1. Provision of facilities and support includes:


 
 Lactation breaks. Lactation breaks are compensable breaks. The company will
allow mothers to express breast milk in the designated company
lactation station. 
 The law requires not less than 40 minutes of lactation break for every 8-hour
working period. With this, breastfeeding moms can have 2-3 breast milk
expressions lasting 15-30 min each within a workday.
 Flexibility for breastmilk expression breaks. There is flexibility for mothers to take
lactation breaks during their workday. These can be negotiated between the
mother, supervisor and HC Department.

 Facilities include: clean, private area, with comfortable chair, hand washing
facilities, storage area for coolers, a refrigerator(?) 

2. Access to breastfeeding information. Staff and employees are made aware of


this policy. All women who are going on maternity leave will be provided with
information on how they can combine breastfeeding and work once they return to
work.
 
3. Employees who are considering breastfeeding can make arrangements for use
of the breastfeeding facilities and other supports before going on maternity leave.
She has to notify the HC Department and the Supervisor of her intent to use the
breastfeeding facility and other arrangements upon returning to work.

 General Rules:

 Employees can use this policy’s provisions for one year after their child’s birth.
 Breastfeeding employees should not be disturbed with work issues when using
the lactation room.
 If employees use their paid breaks to pump/express milk, they will be
compensated as usual. Employees can use their lunch breaks for this purpose
too.
 Employees should inform their supervisors when they want to use the lactation
room.
 Supervisors aren’t allowed to prohibit employees to us break time for
breastfeeding and pumping/expressing milk. Doing so could result in disciplinary
action.
 Supervisors and the HC department are obliged to communicate this policy to
employees.
 All employees should support new mothers. We will not tolerate comments,
disturbance or victimization of our employees.
