 30 minutes to listen to the recording, take

notes, and answer the questions
 10 minutes to transfer answers to answer sheet

situation
 Section 2: A monologue on a general subject
 Section 3: A conversation between up to 4
people with an educational or training context)
 Section 4: A monologue (lecture or academic
talk)
Note: Sections 3 and 4 are the most difficult

Listening for Words

Strategy: Use the questions to focus your attention on

the key words as you listen. Circle the key words.

Tip: Key words are often stressed. Listen for words that
are stressed.

Listening for Numbers

Strategy: Be familiar with the different ways to express

numbers

Tip: Make a note whenever you hear a number. Note

that in a long number the intonation rises and then falls
at the last number.
