Listening for Words

Strategy: Use the questions to focus your attention on


the key words as you listen. Circle the key words.

Tip: Key words are often stressed. Listen for words that
are stressed.

Listening for Numbers

Strategy: Be familiar with the different ways to express


numbers

Tip: Make a note whenever you hear a number. Note


that in a long number the intonation rises and then falls
at the last number.
