Social Impact of RMG industry

Executive Summary
The ready-made garments industry has become a large contributor to our GDP over the last
decade. In our prospective study, we intend to find out the social impact of the RMG sector
towards the workers by using a conclusive research approach.

The findings of the study showed that how the garments industry brought positive changes to the
livelihood of the woman by increased income and savings. The majority of the women workers
reported that their livelihood status, medical facilities, clothing, sanitation, and housing facilities
have improved by getting employment opportunities.

The findings of this study show what role governments have for the welfare of the workers and
improving the RMG sector from its recent scrutiny. For the RMG industry, socially responsible
procedures are pivotal. But many of the firms operating here doesn't deem it to be necessary. For
this reason, the author of this paper recommends a New Governance approach, where instead of
traditional auditing government will set a group of dimensions for the betterment of the RMG
industry.
Research Hypothesis
We are intent to explore what kind of impact minimum wage and employment opportunities
have on worker's livelihood.
Hypothesis 1: Wage has a positive impact on worker's livelihood.
Hypothesis 2: Employment opportunities have a positive impact on livelihood.
Hypothesis 3: Better Livelihood has a positive social impact.
