Running Header: Philosophy Statement

Throughout this course, I have learned so much and much more to learn. I am dedicated

to continue this career path that I have chosen and every day that passes by I learn so much more

about becoming an educator. This semester was definitely one of the hardest semesters yet, I am

full time student taking 5 online classes. This semester pushed me to my limits I didn’t know I

was capable of. As the semester has came to an end I looked back at my pre-philosophy

statement and many things have changed and stayed as they are.

In my original pre-philosophy I stated “This special education class is not just a

requirement for me, I want to learn more about special education and how I can apply this

learning experience for the future.”, I can now say that I have learn so much more than I thought

I would from this special education class. This class brought so much awareness about many

topics I wasn’t aware about. This class has busted up my confidence with knowledge about

special education before this class I had a very simple meaning of what special education means,

now I am leaving with a greater educated meaning. Coming out of this class I feel confident

enough to be able to help other individuals with disabilities, whether this is with my friends,

family or other, I feel confident in offering my help with what I have learned from this class. My

educational philosophy is still the same as my pre-philosophy.

My educational philosophy is to inspire students to learn new things everyday, have fun

while learning, and for student to find their passion. This semester I was able to part take 10

hours of field observation. During these hour I was able to see how my cooperating teacher

interacted with her students. I realized that my cooperating teacher was taking an energetic

approach for distant learning with having her students interact with herself but with their fellow

classmates. I was able to realize not only would I like to be everything I mentioned but to also be

able to bring lots of energy to the table that can create a health environment for not only myself

but for my future students.

Reading chapter after chapter in my special education book I was able to understand why

it is so meaningful to have this as a role in any learning environment. I believe special education

teachers spend more than enough time with their students to be able to realized difference

between each student. Special education teachers are truly the ones who notice different

behaviors in students, teachers being familiarized with special education can help out

tremendously in the classroom environment. Special education teachers have a special role

because they are able to provide instructions, support, and help to these students. Not only do

special education teachers have a huge role but are decided to help these student with disabilities,

they are able to focus on one on one time.

I believe student with special needs learn best when being around other students whether

they have a disability or not. I believe this because students with special needs also need that

interaction with students who many not be the same as they are, if students with special needs are

separated from other students it can create an unhealthy environment. Some goals for my future

students with special education needs is being able to set goals from beginning of the school year

to the end to see the progress. Some other goals are for these individuals to be able to have a

95% accuracy on math, reading or writing, being able to meet standards, and overall being able

to learn skills can help them out throughout their education.

Some qualities I believe are effective for special education teachers are patience,

creativity, acceptance, and love for children. I believe all these qualities special education needs

teacher should have because these students need to feel loved and cared for to be able to succeed.

I believe all students can learn, now some students learn faster than others and other students

need more time and effort to be able to understand what is being taught. Teachers owe their

students with special education needs is compassion, patience, creativity, acceptance, resources,

love, and to show them anything is possible as long as they are willing to play a part. Teachers

owe their students so much, teachers are who inspire students to want to be better and do better.
