Grading of Coursework

1. Test (40%): Written Test (Individual)

Students are required to sit for the written test in WEEK 7.

Instructions:
1. Answer TWO (2) written assessment test questions in ONE (1) HOUR.
2. Submit your answer script to respective Tutorial Google Classroom. STRICTLY NO
LATE SUBMISSION. For late submission, there will be a reduction of absolute
marks from the mark’s score submitted:
 Late within 10 minutes : minus 5 marks;
 Late between 10 to 30 minutes : minus 10 marks;
 Late beyond 30 minutes : minus 20 marks
2. Group Assignment (36%):

TOPIC: Sources of Finance

Each group is required to select only ONE (1) of the following companies as a subject of this
assignment:

i. Gamuda Berhad
ii. IJM Corporation Berhad
iii. Power Root Berhad
iv. Kawan Food Berhad
v. GD Express Carrier Berhad
vi. Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Berhad
vii. FGV Holdings Berhad
viii. Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad

Groups from the same tutorial class are NOT allowed to work on the same company. The
companies are available for selection on a first come first serve basis. Group Leader is to
inform your tutor on the selection of your company.

Each group is required to download the latest financial annual report (FYE 2020) of the
selected public listed company and answer the following questions:

(i) Describe the background and business of the company.

(ii) Identify and analyse any THREE (3) sources of finance (eg. ordinary share, bond,
finance leasing, hire purchase, term loan, overdraft, accounts payable, etc) used by the
company and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each source of finance
from the company's point of view.

* Please attach the Financial Statements i.e. Statement of Financial Position of the company
as appendices in your assignment.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR GROUP ASSIGNMENT

1. Students are required to work in a group of 5 to 6 members for the group assignment.

2. Group leader is to submit the completed group report to respective tutor via Tutorial
Google Classroom by WEEK 10, MONDAY (23rd August 2021) BEFORE 9AM.
3. Your report should follow the following filing sequence:

(a) Cover page (sample attached)

(b) Coursework Feedback Form (sample attached)

(c) Group Assignment Evaluation Form (sample attached)

(d) Individual Presentation Assessment Form (sample attached) - *one form per
student

(e) Group Member Appraisal Form (sample attached) - *one form per student

(f) Plagiarism Declaration Statement (sample attached)

(g) Turnitin Report - *percentage page only

(h) Group Report

(j) Appendices

4. The length of group report should be approximately 3,000 words (excluding the
Cover page, Coursework Feedback Form, Group Assignment and Individual
Presentation Assessment Forms, Group Member Appraisal Form, Plagiarism
Declaration Statement, References and Appendices ). Variation of 10% from the word
limit is allowed. Word count must be stated at the end of the group report.

5. The report should be typewritten in Font 12 Times New Roman with 1.5 line spacing
and justified alignment.

6. The mode of referencing should be the TARUC Harvard Referencing system, all
sources of information must be properly cited otherwise marks will be deducted. The
report must be submitted to Turnitin to determine the similarity index and the
similarity percentage must be less than 24%. A plagiarism statement must be signed
by all group members and please be reminded that plagiarism will be severely dealt
with.

7. Online sources like Wikipedia, Investopedia, etc are not allowed to be referred to for
the purpose of citation. Marks will be deducted for non-compliance of the above.
Instead, students are encouraged to use TARUC online resources of E-Journals, E-
Books, Online Database (such as ProQuest, Emerald, ScienceDirect and so on) for the
coursework.

8. Groups who fail to submit their coursework by the stipulated deadline are subject to
the late submission penalty as follows:

 Late submission of 1-3 days after deadline of submission: Minus 10 marks

 Late submission of 4-7 days after deadline of submission: Minus 20 marks

 Late submission of > 7 days after deadline of submission: 0 marks.

9. Students are to submit a Group Member Appraisal form to ensure total participation
of each member (one form per student). 10 marks will be deducted for individual
participation of less than 50% and 20 marks for 0% participation.

3. Individual Presentation (24%):

TOPIC: Sources of Finance

Based on the group report, suggest ONE (1) suitable source of finance to the company
selected. The suggestion must be properly justified with reasons and presented to the class
on Week 10 during tutorial.

(i) Each student will have 2 to 3 minutes to present their answers during tutorial class in
WEEK 10 (via Google Hangout Meet) using Microsoft PowerPoint.

(ii) Students must turn on their webcam during the presentation to show their faces
(without mask) in order to prove that the respective student is presenting.
