ABFA1153 FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING I

PART A – General Information

1. Grouping for Coursework


The minimum student per group is 4 with maximum 6 members per group (from the same tutorial
class and programme).

2. Harvard Referencing Method


Harvard referencing shall be adopted for this coursework and you can generate of such format
using Microsoft Word. Kindly read, understand, and comply with the requirements of such standard.

3. Deadline for Submission


Your written report must be submitted to your respective tutor not later than 5pm, Friday, 31
July 2020.

The total combined coursework 1 and 2 for this subject is 100 marks and a student securing a
minimum of 50 marks from the combined coursework 1 and 2 meet the minimum threshold marks
to avoid repeating this course. A student who failed to meet the minimum coursework marks may
need to pass a make good test.

6. Originality Report
You are required to Turn In the FINAL copy of the report (Google document) into the google
classroom. A percentage will appear indicating the figure you have plagiarized. An acceptable
percentage for this course is not exceeding 20%.

Any group assignment with a percentage exceeding 20% has an option to redo with the aim of a
lower percentage or being imposed a penalty deduction of 10 marks by the tutor concerned.
PART B – Research Project

1. Requirement
Write a research report of not more than 2,000 words on the following topics:
• Importance of accounting
• Users of accounting information
• Accounting equation (please link to double entry system)
• Source documents (please provide examples: invoice, credit note, debit note…)

2. Presentation and format


• You must not include in your word count the cover page, acknowledgement page, content
page etc.

• The font size shall be 11, font type is “Times New Roman” and line spacing – 1.5 lines.

• You are to include the following information on the cover page:


TARUC logo, course code and title, programme, class, name and student ID number, number
of words, submission date and the lecturer/tutor’s names.

• All coursework MUST be submitted in the following order:

- Table of Content
- Declaration of plagiarism statement duly signed (Part C)
- Introduction (consider giving a summary of report)
- Content (refers to the researched item stated on requirement)
- Conclusion (state how this research shall help you as a consultant in the future or how
