1.

Go online and list down various sources that can help you understand the different

issues on pornography. Identify the topics being discussed by these sources.

- Pornography is a visual representation of sexuality which distorts an individual's concept of

the nature of conjugal relations. This, in turn, alters both sexual attitudes and behavior. It is a
major threat to marriage, to family, to children, and to individual happiness. In undermining
marriage, it is one of the factors in undermining social stability.

Social scientists, clinical psychologists, and biologists have begun to clarify some of the social
and psychological effects, and neurologists are beginning to delineate the biological
mechanisms through which pornography produces its powerful negative effects .

2. Discuss the possible implications (positive or negative) of the patronage of

pornography to the development of one’s character.

- THE POSSITIVE IS: IT WILL RELIEVE YOUR STRESS AND IT WILL RELAXED YOU BUT THE

NEGATIVE IS: IT WILL MAKE YOUR BRAIN SMALL IT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL INSECURE
3. Discuss a different topic within the scope of sexual ethics and explain how this might

affect the development of one’s virtuous character.

- Sexual ethics or sex ethics (also sexual morality) is a branch of philosophy that considers

the ethics or morality or otherwise in sexual behavior. Sexual ethics seeks to understand, evaluate and
critique interpersonal relationships and sexual activities from a social, cultural, and philosophical
perspective. Some people consider aspects of human sexuality, such as gender identification and sexual
orientation, as well as consent, sexual relations and procreation, as giving rise to issues of sexual ethics.

4. What is Moral Virtue? What is Intellectual Virtue?

- The moral virtues are thought to include traits such as courage, justice,

honesty, compassion, temperance, and kindness. Intellectual virtues are
thought to include traits such as open-
mindedness, intellectual rigour, intellectual humility, and inquisitiveness.
5. What is the difference between moral and intellectual virtue? Explain.

- The moral virtues are thought to include traits such as courage, justice,
honesty, compassion, temperance, and kindness. Intellectual virtues are
thought to include traits such as open-mindedness, intellectual rigour,
intellectual humility, and inquisitiveness.
6. Identify some Filipino traits and categorize each as virtue (middle) or vices (excess or

deficiency). Place them in a table.

- Hospitality is a real Filipino virtue and yet many times, also Filipinos’ ruin, it’s a vice already.
Something near-sinful. You see, if you’re a guest in the Philippines, you won’t have to worry about
where you’ll find a hotel to spend the night in - your host will gladly give up his bed to you while he
sleeps on the floor. Other times, he will mortgage his house for money so he can buy you drinks at a
bar. I’m kidding, but yes, Filipinos are hospitable - to a fault. And this is why everybody loves them.
7. How is a person’s character formed according to Aristotle?

- Aristotle claims that character develops over time as one acquires habits from parents and
community, first through reward and punishment. Aristotle claims that one is partly responsible
for one's character, but he thereby raises the question whether one freely chooses
one's character.
8. Who do you think possesses a moral character in your community? Explain your

answer.

-Certainly not politicians of either stripe! Politicians are the ultimate ‘Virtue Signalers’ which
is almost the exact opposite of moral character.

Who does? The businessman who opens his shop every day. The one who works alone, and
the one who employs a single helper, and the one who commands an veritable army of
workers, managers, etc. None of these people use the threat of state violence, like the
politician, to impose his will onto others in the marketplace.

Just because most people do not understand the needs of business, they project their fears
onto business. The ignorant create their own boogeymen.
