IE C6 – Dynamics of Rigid Bodies

( 1 Assignment)

1. A stone is thrown vertically upward and returns to earth in 5 seconds. How high did it go?
2. A train moving with a constant acceleration travels 24’ during he 10th sec of its motion. Find its
initial velocity.
3. A balloon rises from the ground with a constant velocity of 3 ft/sec2. Five seconds later, a stone
is thrown vertically up from the launching sit. What must be the minimum initial velocity of the
stone for it to just touch the balloon > Note that the balloon and the stone hae the same
velocity at contact.
4. The velocity of a particle moving along the X axis is defined by, V = kx3- 4x2 + 6x where V is fps, X
I in ft, and K is a constant. If k = 1, compute the value of the acceleration when X = 2 2ft.
5. The motion of a particle in rectangular motion is defined by a = 6 √v where a is in fps2 and V is
in fps. When t = 2 sec, V 36 fps and S = 30 ft. Determine the value of S at T = 3 sec.
