Components of vectors

1. Find the components in x and y direction of the given force in each case.

2. Resolve each of these forces in two perpendicular directions.

3. Two forces as detailed below are acting on a body of 5kg:
Force in North direction, FN = 23N, and Force in West direction, FW = 12N. Find
the net force on the body and its acceleration.

4. Two forces as detailed below are acting on a body of 10kg:

Force in North direction, Fs = 23N, and Force in West direction, FE = 12N. Find the
net force on the body and its acceleration.

5. A rock is thrown horizontal from a cliff. After some time the rock has following
components of velocity:
Vertically downward direction Vv = 7.5 m/s
Horizontal direction, Vh = 12.4 m/s.
Find the net velocity of the rock.

6. An object is sliding down along a plane which is inclined at an angle of 30

degrees from the ground. What is its acceleration? Find the displacement of the
object along the plane after 2 seconds.

7. A soccer ball is kicked from the ground with a velocity of 5.6 m/s in a direction
36 degrees from ground. Find the vertical and horizontal components of the
velocity.

8. An object of mass 30 kg is being pulled on a horizontal friction-less surface by a

force of 100N directed at 25 degrees from the ground. Find the displacement of
the object along the ground after 10 seconds. What will be its horizontal (along
the ground) velocity.
