D-tek needles are made of high quality surgical stainless steel

(300 series). The needle point is sharp and has good puncturing
properties, high toughness and smoothness. These characteristics
ensure minimal trauma. Penetration with high degree of siliconized
surface finish and outstanding bending satisfy the most important
criteria that needles are required to fulfill.

Needle selection and use

Needles are classified according to the design of the
NEEDLE SHAPE
point into round bodied needles, cutting and micro
point (spatula).

TAPER POINT
Round bodied (taper-point) needles pass
through the tissue by stretching without
cutting. Suitable for easily penetrated tissues
such as Peritoneum, abdominal .

BLUNT POINT
Blunt point needles are ideal for suturing liver
and kidneys as the points are rounded and
blunt.

TAPER CUT
Taper cut needles combines the initial
penetration of cutting needle with the
minimised trauma of a round bodied needle.

CUTTING
Cutting needles are designed for penetration
through dense, irregular and relatively thick
tissues. Sharpness is due to the cutting edges
who are restricted to the front section of the
needle.

REVERSE CUTTING
Reverse cutting needles are triangular in
cross section with the apex on the inside of
the needle curvature. The tissue is tough to
penetrate for example skin, oral mucosa as
