St German’s Church 4 July 2021 - Trinity 5 / Ord Time 14
The story of what happened to Jesus when he
decided to return to his town is a familiar tale, one This week: that happens to all of us: we may achieve Sun 4 Trin. 5/OT14 wonderful things away from home where we are 9:30 Sung Mass (St S) not well known. When we come back home we 11am Sung Mass (St G) discover that people no longer see us in the same Mon 5: way or rather no longer recognise who we have 6:00pm Mass (St G) become or how we have changed or grown. There is much wisdom to be found in this gospel Tues 6: passage: rejection, coping with change and 10am Mass (St S) identity, finding our spiritual home, or even Wed 7: journeying to the deepest truth of ourselves. 10am Mass (St G) Thur 8: 5:45pm Mass (St S) Parish Notes: Fri 9: Congratulations to Natasha Quinn-Thomas, our former ordinand, who was ordained to the No Mass today diaconate yesterday in St Asaph Cathedral. Congratulations to Fr Geraint who was priested Sat 10: last Wednesday and will be with us at next Sunday’s mass. No Mass today Welcome back to Fr Keith who is preaching and presiding for us today. Sun 11 Trin. 6/OT15 Roath and Cathays Ministry Area - Peter Lovitt will speak after mass on the latest meeting of St Saviour’s: the transition team of our new ministry area. 9:30 Sung Mass; Farewell to Fr Phelim - we will have a special celebration after mass on 18 July to say our St German’s: farewells to Fr Phelim and his family. His last Sunday will be on 25 July and last service on 11:00 am Sung Mass 30 July before he takes the first weeks of August for a holiday and some retreat time. His licensing in Birmingham will probably be in the first week of September. Fellowship Rota - to help us with offering fellowship after our Sunday services we need Parish Priest: extra help because of current covid guidelines. Consequently, if you’re able to join a rota to Fr Phelim O’Hare, help with this we’d appreciate it. See Angela for details as to what is required. 02922 411229, Foodbank Collections - Donations at the back of the church. Help us support the hungry. phelimohare@gmail.com Covid Risks Update - Please continue to adhere to social distancing and so go straight to (Day off - Friday) your chair and at the end of the service leave in orderly and socially distanced manner. Churchwardens: Summer Fayre - We hope to have a summer fayre/bazaar on Saturday 24 July from 11:00 to 13:00. We will need to risk assess this and abide by current covid guidelines for outdoor and indoor gathering. If you’d like to be involved in helping with the stalls, hospitality, set up or Peter Lovitt activities please contact Fr Phelim or one of the church wardens. 02920 763754 Singing - We have considered the risks and updated our risk assessment according to CinW Richard Hill and Welsh Gov. guidelines and so it is now possible for some singing to take place in our 07519 352840 worship. Two key precautions: face masks/visors to be worn whilst singing and an ongoing commitment to maintaining strict social distancing throughout the service.
