Footings are an important part of building foundations that help spread structural loads over a large area of soil to increase stability. There are several types of footings including pad, stepped, and sloped footings which are classified based on their shape. Pad footings are rectangular and are used to support individual columns. The video demonstrates a pad footing that is 1.5m x 1.5m x 50cm thick with rebar reinforcement in both the column and footing to securely connect them. Footings help distribute structural loads from buildings to prevent collapse.

3. Today I am going to describe about foundation especially footing. The first thing I want to tell you is the function of foundation. The general function of foundation is to carry the weight of the structural load. The main reason why the foundation is important because of the structural load. When the foundation is not strong enough or when build a building there is no foundation in the building has been built, that building can be easily demolished without disturbed. So that is the important of the foundation in the building. Now I will describe about the parts of the foundation that is called footing. The Footing is a part of foundation which has a function to spread load to largest area that will increase the bearing capacity of soil. This is the different function with foundation itself. Now I will talk about the kind of footing, in this picture there are three kind of footing. They are Pad footing, Stepped footing and Sloped footing which has a column on each footing. In this classification we can see that footing is classified based on shape. OK now I will to show you the detail of footing by my video, So check it out. I will show the detail of the footing by this video. This video has been taken from civil engineering application that is called Tekla structure. What I will to show you this a spread foundation. The type of footing I will show to you is a Pad Footing and in the brown part is called footing. The size of this footing is 1.5mx1.5m and the height or the thickness is 50 cm. Now, you can see the rebar. I will divide it to two section, first section is rebar in the column and second section is rebar in footing itself. In here you can see the rebar of the column which is a longitudinal rebar. There are twelve rebars in here and there are there main rebars on each side. Those rebars are tied with stirrups and we can see there are four stirrups in there. This is an example for the connection of column to footing. You can also see that rebar from column is continued to footing which is bent with 90 degrees and continued again with extension around 80 cm, the function is like the anchor which can lock and set the column and footing each other into one part. Second rebar is in the footing area. The yellow bar is primary bar and the green bar is secondary bar. There are tied by stirrups. You can see two stirrups in there with the size smallest than the primary and secondary rebars which tie primary and secondary bar. The size of footing, column, rebar, or maybe the space between rebar, it depend form the magnitude of moment. I think that is enough about my description about footing.Thank You
