When we were young we used to believe that Rizal was the real author behind the poem

"Sa Aking mga Kabata" which surely made an impact in the lives of the Filipino youth.
However, when I grew a little older, I had known that all along what I believed was not actually
true and therefore fact checking should be a matter if we want to learn the history of our country.

As I have reached the finale of the video shown, I was not actually disappointed at all
even when I found out about it the first time. I have always thought that the importance and the
message that the poem has imparted overshadowed the fact that Rizal did not actually write the
poem. I think what’s important here is that the poem has brought influence and lessons to the
Filipino especially the youth. On a greater note, it does not change the fact that Rizal is our
National Hero and that this does not make him less of a hero. More than that, he showed bravery,
courage, and patriotism to fight for the independence of the country. We should appreciate more
of what was done before, hence our history for it has made us what we are today.

Truly, studying our country’s history is a complex thing to do. But we should take part in
knowing the truth by checking the facts and trying to stay updated about it to preserve the
beautiful remarks and history that our fellow Filipinos have created.
