Teacher’s Activities Student’s Response

GREETINGS

Okay, good morning class!

“good morning ma’am Claire”

How are you today?

How’s your day going so far?

“we’re good ma’am, we had

class before you”
That’s great!

How’s your internet connection?

“it’s good ma’am”

Can you all hear me clearly?

“yes ma’am. Loud and clear”

ATTENDANCE

Okay that’s a good start! so who’s the

absent today?

ADRIANO?

LABANG?
5|Page PIECHART: IBASCO 2-E

CRISTI?

ZONIO?

CABILLO?

“present”

Let’s have a recall with teacher Adriano’s

previous lesson

B. Recall What was your previous topic is all about

again?
“ bar graphs”

Very good Ms. Cristi!

What is a BAR GRAPH? Mr. Zonio?

“A Bar Graph is a graphical

display of data using bars of
different heights”

How about you Mr. Labang?

“We can use bar graphs to

show the relative sizes of
many things, such as what
type of car people have, how
many customers a shop has
on different days and so on.”
Very good! Children! Let’s have an example
6|Page PIECHART: IBASCO 2-E

A survey of 145 people asked them "Which

is the nicest fruit?

How many people voted to grapes? Ms.

Cabilo?
“5 people voted for grapes
ma’am”

How about apple, Mr. Labang?

“35 people voted for grapes

ma’am”
How about banana, Mr. Adriano?

How about orange? Mr. Zonio?

“10 people voted for banana”

How about the kiwi fruit and blueberry?

Ms. Criti.

“30 people voted for orange”

VERY GOOD! So, we have 145 people how

voted to different fruits. Now let’s see how
the bar will looks like if we represent their
votes with the use of a bar graph.
“ 25 people voted for kiwifruit
Can you see the graph?
and 40 people voted for
blueberry”
7|Page PIECHART: IBASCO 2-E

And here is the bar graph;

Base on our graph which portion is the

lowest? What color does that fruit
represent?

Very good! So next question, base on our

bar graph, portion is the highest? And
why?

“the lowest is violet which

represent the votes from the
grapes”
Good job! Now I guess you all understand
how the bar graph works, so now let’s
proceed with our topic for today.

“blueberry is the highest

C. Priming portion in our bar graph,
because 40 people voted for
NOW! IT’S GAME TIME! blue berry.

What you need to do is to guess the name

of each graph I will be showing you.
8|Page PIECHART: IBASCO 2-E

FIRST PICTURE:

“okay ma’am”

Are you familiar? With this kind of chart?

Very good!

SECOND PICTURE:

“ma’am it’s a LINE GRAPH”

Very good! Ms. Cabillo

“it’s a PLOT DOT graph”

9|Page PIECHART: IBASCO 2-E

THIRD PICTURE:

Do you know what kind if data

representation graph is this Mr. Labang?

“pictogram graph”

FOURTH PICTURE:

Good observation!

“this was our previous lesson

it’s a BAR GRAPH!”
10 | P a g e P I E C H A R T : I B A S C O 2 - E

FIFTH PICTURE:

How about this one? Do you know what

kind of graph is this one?

“it’s a PIE GRAPH”

D.lesson Proper

Correct it’s a PIE GRAPH! And today, we

will be discussing what is PIE GRAPH, who
invented the pie graph, how it is use, and
of course how are you going to draw, create
and represent data using a pie graph

Are you ready to learn this new lesson?

“Absolutely”
11 | P a g e P I E C H A R T : I B A S C O 2 - E

ACTIVITY Let’s look at the picture, what do you

notice? Correct a pic chart is in circle form,
it is divided into different segment and each
segment represent a certain data, like in
our first example, you notice how there’s 4
segment that’s dividing the data with its
name and it’s percentage.
(student will answer)

Let’s define PIE chart;

Mr. Zonio please read

12 | P a g e P I E C H A R T : I B A S C O 2 - E

 Pie charts are used in data

handling and are circular charts
ANALYSIS divided up into segments which
each represent a value.
 Pie charts are divided into
sections (or ‘slices’) to represent
values of different sizes.

So, what is a pie chart base on our

definition?
(zonio read)

Very good!

a businessman, engineer and economics

writer from Scotland — created the first “pie chart is a circular chart
known pie chart in 1801 that is divided into segment
which are the spices”
The earliest known pie charts were in
William Playfair's Statistical Breviary of
1801, in which two are used. This
invention was not widely used at first. The
French engineer Charles Joseph Minard
was one of the first to use it. In 1858 he
used them in maps to add information in a
third dimension.

So, who invented the pie chart?

13 | P a g e P I E C H A R T : I B A S C O 2 - E

To understand pie chart more let’s have

examples;

ABSTRACTION
“William Playfair”

How many students spend their time

reading book?

How many students watch movies to their

free times?

“50 students”

How many students play mobile games

instead?
“25 student”

Plays indoor?

“10 student”

“5 student”
Next example:

TEACHER CLAIRE ASKED HER

14 | P a g e P I E C H A R T : I B A S C O 2 - E

STUDENTS WHICH SOCIAL MEDIA THEY

OFTEN USE TO COMMUNICATE WITH
THEIR CLASSMATE NOW THAT WE ARE
IN DISTANCE LEARNING:

50% of her students say that they use

messenger

25% of her student say that they use email

15% of her student say that they use

telegram

10% of her students say that they use

WhatsApp

Can I ask you to draw this example and

show me your answer?

(students will show their

answer)

VERY GOOD!

Since you are all very smart and attentive,

I’m giving all of you a star!
15 | P a g e P I E C H A R T : I B A S C O 2 - E

Now, let’s proceed with our group activity
