2. With the farmyard pictures assigned to your group, spot/ identify hazards (mark X) and assess the risks by filling out the Hazard-Risk Matrix. An example is done for you. 3. Using the same picture identify the different hierarchy of controls for safety (see Figure 1 below), by conceiving and designing a new farmyard. Draw in a bond paper. Identify which of the hierarchy of controls you implemented in the new design of the farmyard. 4. Present output by the end of 1.5 hr.

Figure 2. Risk Matrix Chart HAZARD-RISK MATRIX Identify the main hazards Assess the likelihood Risk reduction measures to be put into and those at risk of injury of risk and severity of place or ill health injury or ill health (Likelihood and Consequence) Example: Likelihood: Unlikely Ensure that tractors have rollover protection Hazard: Rollover of tractor in sloping areas Consequence: Death structures (ROPS) and seat belts. – At risk: Drivers, workers Assessment: Risk of death is high Engineering controls/ PPE Train drivers on safety use of tractors – Administrative Controls
